Marin County Board of Supervisors, in their infinite wisdom, has mandated that all retail stores (located in the County) use plastic bags. Below is a good video that explains why paper bags are less environmentally friendly than plastic bags and why plastic bags are better for the retailer and the consumer.
Personally, I go out of my way to shop at stores in the Cities, so i can have the choice of paper, plastic or both.
